Conscious Dance: Move your body in any way you want (freestyle) in a non-judgmental, substance-free, and life affirming atmosphere where every body is welcome.
Imagine moving to music like a little kid again, wild and free, without caring about what anyone thinks.
Not only is this possible, this is your birthright.
Do you struggle with self-consciousness while dancing, feel inhibited, or unsure if you are doing it “right?” Would you like to get out of your head and feel more comfortable letting go, expressing joy, and having fun?
In this experiential workshop, learn how to:
Reclaim your natural ability to dance like no one is watching, even if you think people are
Remember how to move your whole body in a variety of ways, without pressure of memorizing steps
Expand your movement repertoire to a wide range of musical styles
Quiet the self-conscious committee and release the fear of failure
Gain more confidence in claiming your “voice” on the dance floor
Manage your energy as well as any physical limitations
Stretch your current comfort zone, little by little
Increase your capacity to trust your instincts, impulses, and intuition
Have fun!
I’ve been where you are. As a young girl, I unabashedly danced around my room because of the simple truth that it felt good. Little did I know that this kind of movement medicine was healing for my body, mind, emotions, spirit, and soul. In my teen years, I began to lose my connection to my true Self and be overwhelmed by cultural conditioning in many forms of not enoughness. Over time, in supportive and non-judgmental spaces, I rediscovered my inner freedom to move with joy, express my humanity, and amplify my divinity. I remembered what it feels like to be comfortable in my own skin.
You can too.
Join us on the Conscious Dance floor and tap into your true nature.
What to expect in this workshop:
Grounding, centering, and gentle warm-up at the beginning
Simple movements for your whole body
Plenty of time to play, experiment, and create
Get down, lighten up, be funky and free to a wide range of musical styles and genres
Tips and tricks for self-conscious concerns, energy management, and getting stuck in your head
Wear comfortable clothes to move in, a yoga mat or blanket for a restful integration at the end, water, and journal if you wish.
FAQ’s
What if I have physical limitations?
You are welcome! Given that your body has over 600 muscles and over 200 joints and bones, there are many ways to move, while tending to areas of your body that may not move as freely. As long as you are cleared for physical activity, join us!
What if I don’t have any experience?
None is needed. Nada. Nothing. If you can breathe, you can dance (move your body.) All you need is a willingness to grow and openness to expand.
What if I don’t know what I’m doing?
I’ll tell you a secret…sometimes I don’t know either. In fact, this is the ordinary magic of Conscious Dance - when you allow yourself to be in the precious, present moment and allow your body to move you. No thought required, what a relief!
